Vocational training in the
hospitality and catering sectors in the
 the Republic of Ireland

WHO WE ARE

After 13 years of operation in the UK, Destination Europe has set sail to Ireland. Destination Europe Ireland has been operating for the past 3 years. We are a small team of individuals who are passionate about European mobility having had the experience of living and working in France and abroad.
DE manages and supports high quality, grant-supported vocational learning opportunities for aspiring hospitality and catering professionals in the Republic of Ireland with dedication and a high level of care.
We deliver a comprehensive support package to each participant and host company. We provide Irish hospitality partners with the opportunity to integrate career-minded trainees into their teams, who may become employees at the end of long-term training periods.

OUR SERVICES

Destination Europe (DE) develops vocational training opportunities for apprentices and their professional counterparts in the Republic of Ireland.
We offer two main project types:
2-week projects for young professionals in apprenticeship and 26 to 52-week projects for aspiring young professionnals who have finished their training in France.
Our participants are typically 18 to 30 years old and already benefit from several years’ of education or full-time apprenticeship in a variety of different environments, ranging from artisan bakeries, hotels and brasseries to  high -end pastry shops, butcher shops and Michelin-starred restaurants. The trainees who participate in our mobility projects wish to harness this experience to train further outside their country of origin, in the Republic of Ireland.

Presentation and Selection

DE travels extensively in France to build partnerships with artisan colleges, regional councils and youth organisations who wish to send young professionals abroad for industry-specific training. DE interviews all future trainees, ensuring that their aspirations, skills and personality match with the expectations of the host companies that will provide them with training in the Republic of Ireland.

Preparation

Once our participants have been selected, the first phase of each project takes the form of "Work-focused Learning,” during which time each trainee receives intensive language tuition, discovers their new surroundings and is introduced to their host company. Long-term project participants are also assisted in finding accommodation near to their host companies and familiarising themselves with the way of life and culture of their host country.

Follow ups

Trainees are then closely monitored during the second phase of the project both within, and outside, of the professional environment. Participants are encouraged to live autonomously in their host country, though regular meetings and feedback sessions are scheduled with both participant and host company alike to ensure the ongoing success of each collaboration.

"The emphasis of each collaboration is to further develop the skills, knowledge and experience of the participant, whilst providing the host company with a competent and useful trainee - who may go on to become an employee at the end of their long-term projects."
